From Sydney to San Diego
Australian Emma Weinert started riding lessons as a child in her home city of Sydney, Australia, where she discovered a lifelong love for horses.
As a teenager, Emma’s family bought her a warmblood horse, a big four year old gelding named Darius. From there, Emma was well and truly bitten by the dressage bug.
An avid learner, Emma immersed herself in the sport and climbed the ranks to FEI levels on a team of horses she produced herself.
After orchestrating a clinic with her idol Steffen Peters in Australia in 2008, Emma was so impressed with his training that she packed her bags and moved to California to start training full time at the Peters’ San Diego property.
When the time came to expand her team of horses, Emma purchased an inexperienced broodmare (to ride!) and a young stallion from Holland.
Several years later, Emma is still based with Steffen and Shannon Peters and has made her mark on the dressage scene in the US.
Emma’s ‘broodmare’ Velvet is now a Grand Prix CDI*** winner and her ‘young stallion’ is a successful small tour horse and is about to break in the FEI big tour.
Emma is in-demand for clinics in the US and Australia, as she is known for her kind, soft and effective training method. Her approach is strongly focused on the correct use of the rider’s body in the saddle, which she says is the key to getting great results.
